Culture

Excellence is a Choice.

“Excellence” is not a skill.
It is a choice, and a reflection of the belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

Cultural Impact over Cultural Fit

To build exceptional products, having a world-class team is essential.
We do not hire for “fit.”
We hire for impact. We focus on how each individual elevates and transforms the team for the better.

VP of Engineering
Shigemoto Fujikura

Trust is inherently mutual.

If you do not trust others, it is unlikely they will trust you. That is why I choose to place absolute trust in my team first.Engineering is part of the business. I want engineers to write code that contributes to the business. I love technology myself, and sometimes I think about how satisfying it would be to focus only on the code in front of me. But if that is all there is, it is no different from a hobby.

Writing clean, elegant code is important. But we also need to think about what the business and organization aim to be, and what kind of design is appropriate for the situation. That means making decisions such as avoiding over-engineering, or even choosing a path we know will create technical debt.

That, to me, is what it means to be an engineer as a business professional, and it is something we should not shy away from.Rather than focusing on what someone has done in the past, I place greater importance on whether they can make sound decisions as a business professional within a product-driven business.
